Our exclusive Dreamlike Oceans Community Spoiler

On the 27th of march 2026 the twenty-eighth expansion of FFTCG Dreamlike Oceans will be released and we are able to present you a new card which hopefully be part of a brand new deck.

So let's find out if this new kind of deck even can be build.

The Card

Arciela

3CP, Earth

Backup
Job: Red Mage

Categorie: XI

Cardcode: 28-058R

When a Category XI Forward of cost 6 or more enters your field, you may put Arciela into the Break Zone.
When you do so, choose 1 Character opponent controls. Break it.

Background Lore

Arciela V. Adoulin is the main protagonist of the fifth expansion from the MMORPG Final Fantasy XI. She is the daughter of king August who gives up the throne as part of the story. So Arciela is technacally a princess but with the abolishment of the imperial system she looses that title. That's why this and no previous card of her possesses the Job Princess.

As cornerstone of the story Arciela introduces the players to the story of the expansion. The player meets her on the way to the city of Adoulin. As part of the story this very city needs to be saved by the protagonists.

Playability

This is Arciela's third card in the TCG but it's her debut as a Backup. With her effect we can break a character of our choosing. But how useable this effect can be we will see in the following.

[28-078H] Ulmia
[28-078H] Ulmia

Those of you who follow the spoiler this season know, that Arciela isn't the first card with a synergy for characters with cost 6 or more. [28-078H] Ulmia let's us search for a character with cost 6 or more. Furthermore she can give a forward of cost 6 or more haste once per turn . So she can be used for building up backups or pressure the opponent with a forward.
If Arciela is already on the field, Ulmia can search for a Category XI Forward. By playing this forward Arciela takes a character from the opponent while we build up another forward.

Such a forward could be [16-070] Kirin. By playing Kirin we can flip the top 5 cards of our deck and play up to 2 forwards of cost 4 onto the field. By doing so we can establish up to 3 forwards while also breaking a character opponent controls.
Another use case for Arciela resides way back in Opus X. Those of you who are around long enough, know of [10-104R] Ranperre. And also the beast that is called [10-136S] Shantotto. Those two are fantastic cards that synergise with our red mage.

The last forward we want to mention is [27-115R] Shadow Lord. Shadow Lord is a card from Opus XXVII which is played in dedicated decks. And because it is a LB-card the players always have access to this forward.

[16-070L] Kirin

[10-136S] Shantotto

[10-104R] Ranperre

 [27-115R] Shadow Lord

Conclusion

Whether or not a new Category XI deck sees the light of day will be seen in the next weeks. Breaking characters is always a good effect. But it needs to be seen if that is enough to find a place in the new meta.

We hope you enjoyed our spoiler. But can our red mage prevail in the new expansion or will Arciela be just another pack filler? If you haven't seen enough spoilers yet, you can find an overview of all previously published spoilers from Journey of Discovery on our spoiler page

We would like to thank SQUARE ENIX and Hobby Japan for the opportunity to present another spoiler!
